Guest speaker to talk about patient care in the digital age

From wearable sensors to improved point-of-care diagnostics, artificial intelligence, and virtual care, current breakthroughs in medical technology are fundamentally changing the way that patients interact with their health care and providers. Robin Farmanfarmaian, a professional speaker, author, and entrepreneur will take the stage as the AAD’s guest speaker for the Sunday, March 3 Plenary session and explain some of the trends in health care delivery, and ways providers can integrate some of these new services and revenue streams in her presentation “Patient Empowerment in the Digital Age.”

Farmanfarmaian, who has had over 100 speaking engagements in 12 countries, believes that technology can empower patients and make a positive impact in the health and medical field. This position drives her to provide personalized talks, education, and resources to leaders, entrepreneurs, physicians, health care professionals, and innovators to positively impact medicine and health care.​

In addition to being a professional speaker on technology and medicine for many conferences and companies, she is adjunct faculty for Singularity University and a contributing writer to Wired, Forbes, Huffington Post, and other publications.

Currently, Farmanfarmaian is working with a few early stage start-ups: as COO for Arc Fusion Programs; as co-founder and former executive director for the Organ Preservation Alliance; as vice president of Business Development for Invicta Medical; and as president of i4j ECO, a summit to disrupt unemployment through innovation to create jobs and meaningful work for everyone.

Farmanfarmaian also serves on the advisory boards of many early stage start-up tech companies and organizations, such as SXSW V2Ventures, AARP, Doctella, and the Kairos Society, among others. She mentors women in entrepreneurship, technology, and health care and holds a series of dinners for women in technology.
