New session focuses on trends in dermatology practice models

This year, a brand-new session will be coming to the 2018 AAD Summer Meeting, titled “Trends in the Practice of Dermatology: Consolidation and the Role of Private Equity” (F013). This session will take place on Friday, July 27, from 7-9 a.m., and will be directed by Michel A. McDonald, MD, who chairs the Academy’s Council on Practice Management.

With the recent trend of consolidation among dermatology practices, this session will compare different models within the spectrum of private equity-funded practices. Attendees will be able to gain valuable knowledge on how to evaluate these various dermatology practice models, and reflect on which factors to take into consideration when joining an equity-backed group.

The daily realities of practicing in a group will be discussed, along with the overall trends of consolidation within the specialty. Potential positive and negative factors will also be addressed, in addition to the impact that it will have on the future of dermatology practice as a whole.

The session will take place in Grand Ballroom B, and will offer attendees two CME credits for participating.
