Welcome to the 2017 AAD Summer Meeting

Henry W. Lim, MD
President, American Academy of Dermatology

I am pleased that my first meeting representing the Academy as your president is taking place in a city that I lived, trained, and worked in for over 20 years.

In my years of practice, I have seen the profound growth of dermatology as a whole, as well as the establishment of its subspecialties. There have been tremendous advancements in the scientific base of our specialty, leading to better understanding of the pathophysiology of disease, which in turn results in better therapeutic options. This is well illustrated by advances made in the treatment for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, as well as many other dermatoses. New developments in procedural dermatology have well-positioned our specialty as a major leader in this area. These topics, and many more, will be covered extensively during this meeting.

Adding to the excitement of learning about the latest developments in dermatology is the site of the meeting, New York City. The meeting venue is only steps away from Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Museum of Modern Art, and many other mid-town Manhattan attractions and shops. It is a short taxi ride to Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tribeca, and SoHo.

This Summer Meeting promises to be a great educational event for all of us, and a most enjoyable trip for the entire family.

I look forward to seeing you in New York City!
