Chair, Scientific Assembly Committee

The Scientific Assembly Committee is proud to present a generous program of the highest quality presenters over an expansive collection of topics.

This summer’s Plenary session aims to have something for everyone! Pearl Grimes, MD, will present the Everett C. Fox, MD Memorial Award and Lectureship, on vitiligo. Terrance Keaney, MD, will address questions surrounding the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma relative to its theoretical potential. Marta Van Beek, MD, MPH, will share the results of a new AAD report, “Burden of Skin Disease,” that analyzes the prevalence, cost, and mortality of 24 different skin disease categories in the U.S. Michael Milone, MD, will lecture on CAR-T cells in medicine and their potential for treating autoimmune blistering diseases. Finally, guest speaker and biochemist, Samuel H. Sternberg, PhD, will share his research on CRISPR genetic engineering technology.

The New York Hilton Midtown is the site of the 2017 AAD Summer Meeting.

Expand your horizons with hands-on sessions featuring nail surgery, scar revision, wound repair, and fillers. Self-reflect at how you practice with one-on-one workshops that offer diverse mock-patient scenarios, including breaking bad news, medication management, the difficult patient, and the total body skin exam. Additional meeting highlights include “Practical Approaches to Assessing Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Patients in Clinic,” the “EADV/AAD Joint Symposium,” “Advanced Systemic Therapeutics,” “Dermatology Grand Rounds: Case-based Dilemmas,” and “Hot Topics in Medical Dermatology.”

This is just the tip of the iceberg of an exciting program that aims to fill your practice gaps, refine your skills, and satisfy your academic curiosity and practical needs. It is my great hope that this meeting will provide you an opportunity to reconnect with your colleagues around the world and enhance the love of dermatology that we all share!
