The Academy is excited to have baseball legend Johnny Bench as part of the roster for the Plenary Session on Sunday, March 22.

Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in January 1989, Bench was named “greatest catcher ever” by Sporting News in 1998, and he also was named the 16th greatest player of all time. Over the years, Bench has maintained a sense of balance by using his celebrity status to aid such worthy organizations as the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the National Kidney Foundation, the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Health Systems, the American Lung Association, and the ‘Catch the Cure’ program of the Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati. He was national chairman of Athletes vs. Cancer for the American Cancer Society.

In recent years, Bench has been on the lecture circuit, giving talks on the spirit of winning. He is a symbol of winning through hard work and teamwork, and will offer “Vowels of Success” which highlights easy to remember motivational tips.
