Let the Windy City blow you away!

0515-Chicago River

Enjoy the unique beauty of Chicago by attending the AAD Summer Academy Meeting at the Hyatt Regency, which overlooks the Chicago River.

In addition to the many things that make this city great, the specialty shares a rich history with Chicago. One of the first dermatology meetings took place in Chicago in 1901, when Dr. James Hyde hosted a small, informal dinner for physicians at the University Club of Chicago. This was the beginning of the Chicago Dermatology Society. Starting in 1947, the famed Palmer House was the site of 19 consecutive Academy Annual Meetings — in December. Anyone who has traveled to Chicago in December knows that’s dedication.

This year’s Summer Meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency, centrally located in downtown Chicago, blocks from Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile, one of the finest shopping districts in the world. The Hyatt contains more than 228,000 square feet of venue space and recently completed a $168 million renovation.

What’s new?

Those who register during discounted registration and receive a meeting packet prior to arriving at the Summer Meeting can verify attendance by scanning the barcodes on their badges at one of the Attendance Verification Stations located throughout the Hyatt. Those who do not receive their registration packets prior to the meeting or who register on site will automatically have their attendance verified when they print their badge/tickets at the meeting.

Meeting attendees can help the Academy become more environmentally friendly by making the decision to view the Final Program electronically via the mobile app or the AAD website. To assist the AAD with these efforts, choose the “I want to go green!” option during the online registration process. Selecting this option means that you do not want a paper copy of the Final Program once you arrive at the meeting. In addition, the traditional canvas registration bags will be replaced by recycled/recyclable bags, available at the Meeting Information Bins located near registration.

After a successful debut at the 2014 Annual Meeting, the Meeting Concierge will be used at the Summer Academy Meeting.  Concierge personnel, easily identifiable by their green vests and “Ask me” logo, will be available to assist attendees throughout the meeting.

“I’m sure you’ll appreciate the incredible list of speakers, researchers, and others who will be presenting new, pivotal research and the very latest in dermatology advances in Chicago,” said Brett Coldiron, MD, president of the AAD.
